Facial Paralysis: Wind Invading the Collaterals
Dispel wind, free the collaterals, harmonise qi and blood. For peripheral facial paralysis with inability to close the eye and deviation of the mouth.
POINT SELECTION
RATIONALE
ST4 and LI20 are the principal local points for the mouth and nose; TE17 and GB20 dispel wind from behind the ear, where the affected nerve emerges; LI4 is the distal point for the face. The staged approach reflects the clinical observation that strong early stimulation may prolong the acute phase.
