Sample Treatments for Common Conditions

Worked prescriptions for stroke, facial paralysis, neck and back pain, insomnia and stomach pain.

These examples show how the principles are applied rather than prescribing fixed formulas. In each case the points divide into local points at the site of the disorder, distal points on the affected channel, and points chosen for the pattern.

Stroke sequelae, for instance, combine scalp zones with points on the affected limbs and a small number of points to raise qi; facial paralysis uses local facial points with LI4 and LR3; neck and back pain use local and distal points along the affected channels; insomnia is treated by calming the spirit at HT7 and PC6 with points for the underlying pattern; stomach pain combines CV12 and ST36 with points for cold, heat, stagnation or deficiency as appropriate. Dosage and duration are adjusted to the patient rather than fixed.
