RATIONALE
GB30 is the principal point where the sciatic nerve emerges and is needled deeply for a radiating response; BL40 and BL57 lie on the bladder channel, which governs the posterior thigh and calf; GB34 is on the gallbladder channel for lateral radiation. Selecting the channel according to the line of pain is the diagnostic step that determines which of these is used.
